FEOGARM

Project title

FEOGARM - A Framework to Evaluate and Optimize Gesture Acquisition and Recognition Methods

Overview of the project and expected outcomes

  • Description: The goal of this thesis is to provide a powerful methodology and framework to the researchers working on the upper-body gesture recognition field in order to quantitatively compare the efficiency of their tracking and recognition algorithms as independently as possible of the technologies and devices used.
  • Keywords: HCI (Human-Computer Interaction), gesture recognition, open framework, economic upper-body gesture database, acquisition methodology
  • Outcomes: 1) Promote clear guidelines to researchers on what sensors to use in which situation, 2) Provide a methodology and a dataset allowing researchers to quantitatively compare their algorithms and gesture recognition methods, 3) Promote and encourage comparisons and discussions between researchers through challenges
