ARAMIS: Augmented Reality Avatar as Model for Interaction Science

Project overview and expected outcomes

  • Project Description: ARAMIS is focused on context aware interaction of human with a smart environment. Research axes are related to interaction and to context awareness. In particular, ARAMIS takes in account gesture and human-machine interactions with an egocentric perspective. This perspective is based on a situative model of what a human being can see or not and reach or not at any given moment. The particularity of this model is that physical and virtual objects are treated as being located in the same space.
  • Keywords: Human-computer interaction, human-environment interaction, human centered-computing, multimodal interaction, egocentric interaction, gesture recognition, hybrid approach, Augmented/virtual/mixed realities, etc…
  • Outcomes: This research work should analyze and exploit the fusion between real and virtual world, in order to propose an innovative interaction paradigm (model). The proposed model will be validated through the design of an integrated framework to bridge the gap between physical and virtual world and to exploit mixed environments in order to facilitate and enhance human capabilities. The first approach used to face this problem is a hybrid system for the gesture recognition.
